DeMarcus Cousins was drawn fifth overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2010 NBA Draft. His debut year was respectable. He averaged 14.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. His efforts earned him a spot on the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team.

His productivity would gradually grow over the following several seasons. While his output was consistent, he was known as an emotional guy, which landed him in hot water both on and off the court.

He earned his first all-star and All-NBA team honors during the 2014-2015 NBA season, kicking off his reign as the league’s finest center. His quick agility enabled him to torment his post opponents.

His post-game and his above-average shooting gave him a headache for many defensive tactics.

The Sacramento Kings moved Boogie to the New Orleans Pelicans shortly after the 2017 NBA All-Star Game to link up with fellow Wildcat Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins were among the league’s top frontcourt pairings.

He was not awarded a max contract after the season as anticipated at the start due to his injury, which prompted him to accept a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors for the 2018-2019 NBA season.

He would not join them until January 2019 and would stay healthy for a few months before rupturing his left quad.

He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2019-2020 season but tore his ACL in a summer game and was dismissed without playing a single game.

The next season, he rejoined with his old college teammate, John Wall. He would appear in 25 games with the Rockets before being discarded. He completed the season with the Los Angeles Clippers. An NBA team has not yet signed him for 2021-2022.

He would win two gold medals with the USA Men’s Basketball Team. One was in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and the other at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
